Events
I have done and am doing a number of literary events, interviews etc. to promote  The Unpierced Heart, as well as various short story anthologies I'm involved in. Here's the current line-up:

NEXT EVENTS:

I am speaking as part of Canon Tales at the TLC Literary Conference on Saturday 14th June at the Free Word Centre. I'll also be talking to aspiring authors about presenting/pitching their work.

Liars' League will be doing a special remix of our June theme, Weird & Wonderful, at the Literary Kitchen Festival on Tuesday June 17th at the Peckham Pelican. Starts at 7pm, £5 on the door.

PAST NOVEL EVENTS

Mon 13th February 2012:
Reading at "free literary party night" The Book Stops Here at The Alley Cat, 4 Denmark Street, Soho, WC2H 8LP.

Tue 14th February:
Valentine's Day. Also the first Liars' League of 2012, Kiss & Kill, at which an extract of my novel will be read, and copies will be sold and signed. (Details below).
 
Thu 16th February:
I was be a competitor/ reader/gladiatrix at Literary Death Match. I didn't win but I didn't care - had a brilliant time & much booze.

Saturday 25th February:
I'll be at the Barbican as a guest of Spread the Word, doing a masterclass on writing your first novel in the morning, and a reading and panel discussion with my editor Juliet Annan of Penguin in the afternoon.

Tuesday 6th March:
I helped put the "special" into literary variety night The Special Relationship, along with Kirsty Logan, at The Queen of Hoxton.

9th - 11th March 2012:
I had a great time at the King's Lynn Literary Festival, and shared the bill with Carol Birch, who wrote the prizewinning Jamrach's Menagerie. Swoon!

Friday 16th March: 12.30pm - early afternoon
I did a signing at Waterstone(')s Guildford - where they like me and I pretty much love them (especially being a local girl).

Saturday 17th March, 11am-3pm
I signed copies at Waterstone(')s Farnham and recommended books - including but not limited to my own - for all fans of Victoriana, (neo and original flavour).

24th March - 1st April 2012:
I appeared at 10am on Sunday 25th March at the Sunday Times Oxford Literary Festival, discussing writing historical fiction with fellow author Kate Williams. You can buy tickets and flinch at my sourpuss grumpyface picture here.

Wednesday 28th March 2012:
I read from the book and talked about literary "ladies of pleasure" (such as Moll Flanders, Sugar from Crimson Petal, Nancy from Oliver Twist, etc.) - at Clapham Books.

Wednesday 11th April 2012:
I love the Wapping Project. I went to an amazing party there once and got a free hat. Anything could happen if you come to my reading at the bookshop! It's

Thu 26th April at 6.30pm
I did a book club event at Waterstones Islington, which is at 11 Islington Green, London N1 2XH and was great fun. As a result, The Whores' Asylum is now a recommendation in-store. Score!

Sunday 29th April at 2.30pm
I read from the novel at lovely fiction event Storytails in Stoke Newington - details on the site (click on Storytails to go there).

I read from The Whores' Asylum at a benefit organised by lovely online audio story magazine 4'33" for Oxfam Bookstore Balham, at the Balham Bowls Club. It starts at 7pm, costs £3 on the door and all the details are at the Facebook event here

Saturday 14th July
I gave a talk to a class of Creative Writing Students at the Oxford Tradition summer school in Pembroke College, Oxford.

Thu 19th & Fri 20th July
I read (as myself and with Liars' League) at the Secret Garden Party festival in Cambridgeshire.

10th-12th August 2012
Home again home again ... well, to Oxfordshire, anyway - I did some stuff with the Liars' League (see below) and some late-night readings from the novel at Wilderness Festival! I also did a pretty damn fine impromptu Irish accent at Literary Death Match.

Friday 21st September 2012
I talked about sex, murder and the (neo) Victorian novel with nineteenth-century expert, biographer and novelist Kate Williams at the Sevenoaks Literary Celebration.

Saturday 20th October 2012
I was one of the panellists and guest authors (the other two are Morag Joss and Martin Davies) at the New Forest Readers' Day in Hampshire - a "mini literary festival in a day".

Tuesday 23rd October 2012
I read from and discussed The Unpierced Heart at my local bookshop - Review in Peckham.

Friday 26th October 2012
I put the "whee!" into Hallowe'en, along with James Dawson and Cathi Unsworth, by reading a particularly Gothic extract (probably the bear bit or the orgy bit) at a special edition of Stand Up for Books! organised by The Society of Young Publishers.

Thursday 1st November
I was a guest at the Book Supper of the Wantage (not just) Betjeman Literary Festival. I read from the novel and spoke in defence of the Kindle, along with fellow novelist Eliza Graham at their after-supper debate. Controversial!

Saturday 10th November 2012
I did a special Jericho based reading at the Albion Beatnik Bookshop in Jericho, Oxford (where the novel is set). Entry was FREE and kick-off was at 6.30pm.

Saturday 17th November 2012
I gave an all-day workshop on Writing Your Second Novel for Spread the Word at the delightful Woolfson & Tay Bookshop in Bermondsey.

Sunday 18th November 2012
Off to Hertfordshire for the Ware Literary Festival - The Great Bed of Words - where I taught a class in Structure & Plot and discussed Taking Your Fiction Further with organiser Dana Captainino.

Thu 22nd November
Reading from London Lies (Arachne Press's anthology of some of the best Liars' League stories) at Waterstones Oxford Street (the one opposite Selfridges). £4 on the door, inc. wine, kick-off at 7pm.

Thu 29th November
Reading from Stations (Arachne Press's anthology of stories inspired by the London Overground Highbury-Crystal Palace line) at the Deptford Lounge. Christopher Marlowe died here; we didn't. FREE, 7pm.

2013

Sun 27th January 2013
I read at the launch of Arachne Press's LOVERS' LIES Anthology, a selection of the best love-themed stories from Liars' League (see below). The event was at Keats House in Hampstead and kicked off at 2.30 in the afternoon. How civilised!

Sat 2 March
I did a workshop at the LSE Space for Thought Literary Festival on Trying New Positions - how to spice up your text life. Yes, the title is shameless, and yes it was basically about narrative stance. With LOLcats.

Thu 14 March
I did a couple of fiction workshops at the exremely nice Sevenoaks School.

Thu 28 March
I did a reading and a talk (well, more of a chat/Q&A) to Andrea Mason's Literary Kitchen group.

Tuesday 23rd April:
Me and actors from Liars' League helped Literary Kitchen celebrate WORLD BOOK NIGHT at the Cool Cats Cafe in Camberwell.

Thursday 25th April, 7.30, Toynbee Studios: me, Tom Chivers, Clare Fisher and IAIN SINCLAIR, yes, that one, did the Annexe Magazineevent WORDS ON CITIES. Click title to book.

Monday 6th May (MAY DAY) from 7.30pm (I'm on @9ish)
At Brixton Book Jam I read a story from one of the Arachne Press anthologies I feature in.

Sat 22 June
I did a Granta Best of Young British Novelists event featuring Liars' League actors reading work by Adam Thirlwell, Naomi Alderman and my local bookshop owner Evie Wyld on at 4.30pm at Foyle's, as part of the Charing Cross Festival.

Mon 24-Fri 29 June
I co-taught a week's creative writing course for gifted and talented youngsters at Villiers Park, Foxton, Cambridgeshire, with poet Julie Bolitho-Lee
